Duncan leads the reward and HR consultancy work at the Institute for Employment Studies (IES). He has more than 25 years’ experience in reward consulting and research with firms including Aon Hewitt, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Towers Perrin. He also spent five years as assistant director general at the CIPD. His work on gender pay includes equal pay audits for a range of public and private sector employers; research studies for the EHRC, NHS Employers, UCEA and OME; and work on achieving more diverse senior management teams for a number of NHS and local authority employers. He is currently working on the project team reviewing the gender pay gap in medicine. Duncan has participated on government taskforces concerned with fair pay, pensions and human capital reporting and has provided input to ACAS, the Parliamentary WEC and GEO on gender pay reporting. Duncan advises a number of remuneration committees including Christian Aid and is a Council member of the Pensions Policy Institute. Human Resources magazine placed him in its listing of the top five most influential thinkers in UK HR.
